About Me

Dr. Ron Hinson
Dr. Hinson began his tenure as pastor of First Baptist Church, Whiteville, NC on April 20, 2009. He previously served churches in Western NC, Georgia and Kentucky. Dr. Hinson is a graduate of the University of Georgia and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with M.Div. and Ph.D. degrees. He has an undergraduate background in science with a theological studies focus on Christian Preaching. Dr. Hinson's Ph.D. dissertation gave attention to the subject of Preaching and Aging. More recently, the Psalms have been a key focus of his personal study, along with wide ranging interests in business, literature, history, christian ethics and the arts. Dr. Hinson is married to Jan, an elementary school teacher. They have two married daughters, one living in Georgia and another traveling around the world, and a son attending graduate school at Clemson University in South Carolina. He also has two beautiful granddaughters.
